5 Things To Look For In A Good Resort

What are the things that you look for when you plan a vacation for you and your family? For me, there are 5 main things that I check out before I hit the “book” button when surfing for hotels and resorts to take my vacation in. I would like to share these items just in case there are families out there that are overwhelmed with their choices. I will focus on the Bahamas region since it is quite accessible by air from the U.S. and many other countries.

#1 – Comfortable rooms
I love sleeping in during vacations – who doesn’t? So this means I do not settle for a room that is just the basic type of room – running water, working air conditioner and a bed. I would like a room where I can enjoy it in itself – that is why it is a vacation! A superb view with cool amenities – nothing too exotic, I would like it to be a little reminder of my home, still, but in an upgraded way.

#2 – Lots of activities!
When I am vacationing, I follow what my mood tells me to. So this means that wherever I am going, they should have a pretty long list of items for me to do. Whether this is para-sailing, scuba diving, ATV riding or just learning some painting lessons along the beach – as long as there is something interesting for me to do, I’m going for it.

#3 – Great pools!
Aside from gorgeous photo opportunities, really good resort pools are my thing. That is one particular thing that I look for that I think I can get in any of the Bahamas island hotels out there. I need my cocktail by the pool and at the same time, I need a pool that my kids would be happy to jump into.

#4 – Family friendly activities
Not that I would require a babysitter but it would be nice to have some quiet time for myself when vacationing with kids. So if the resort has some kiddie cooking classes or some marine animal classes, I’d gladly take those opportunities to catch up to my reading, peacefully.

#5 – Good value for the money
Let’s face it, not everyone is as rich as Donald Trump. So getting a good value for the money that you are paying for the vacation, would even make the vacation more fantastic.
